A State- of- the-Art Health Center constructed by the Deputy Majority Leader of Ghana’s Eight Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin has been commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Health Service for its operationalization to deliver quality healthcare services to residents of Woarabeba, a community in the Effutu Municipality.
Present at the colorful ceremony to support the commissioning of the facility were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, who was the Chairman for the occasion, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Asiedu, Presiding Member, Hon. Elizabeth Senah, members of the Clergy and Chiefs of the area.
Commissioning the facility named after a former Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Late Hon. Nii Ephraim who served as MCE from 2009-2015, Hon. Afenyo Markin said the facility will enhance accessibility in healthcare delivery for the residents who hitherto had to travel to Nsuekyir and Winneba before accessing healthcare services, adding that the difficulties the residents of Woarabeba go through in assessing health care from nearby communities was a matter of concern which needed prompt attention. The NPP Member of Parliament noted that honoring the former MCE who served during the era of the NDC administration was necessary to inspire the present generation to eschew extreme partisanship and work hard for the development of Effutu. He said that the late MCE was a disciplinarian who stood for all manner of persons regardless of ones political coloration
He said that investing in such an edifice demonstrates his resolve and commitment to expanding access to quality health care to all, especially in rural communities in the Municipality.
Hon Afenyo Markin stated that expanding access to quality health care is pivotal to the realization of the Effutu Dream which is the engine around which the development drive of the Municipality revolves.
He called for attitudinal change of Ghanaians in their handling of matters relating to the state and urged all to support Government by working hard in their various fields of endeavor.
In his quest to get the full scale operation of the Health Center, Hon. Afenyo Markin donated an amount of Ghc10, 000 to the Health Directorate for the purchase of drugs to stock the dispensary and offer health care delivery to the residents as plans are underway to get NHIS accreditation for the facility.
On her part, Madam Melody Delali Atiawu, the Municipal Public Health nurse who represented the Municipal Director of Health Services, thanked the MP for always responding to the health needs of the people.
According to her, the provision of the health facility at Worabeba was crucial for reducing the stress in travelling to other areas to assess health care.
According to her, the fully furnished facility with modern state-of- the- art equipment will be a high-quality provider of comprehensive services for Children, Adolescent, and Adult populations in the catchment area.
