Occupants of Government buildings in the Effutu have been advised to have a renewed mindset towards the payment of rents to the Assembly to allow for a periodic and proper maintenance of the facilities they occupy.
They have also been urged to pay their rents promptly and on time to avoid the situation where the Assembly would be hauled to appear before the Public Accounts Committee and queried on audit infractions regarding non- payment of rent by occupants.
At a Stakeholders meeting with occupants of the Government bungalows in Winneba at the Municipal Assembly on Thursday September 8, 2022, the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that the Assembly will not hesitate to apply the necessary sanctions by ejecting tenants who fail to honor their rent obligations to enable the Assembly function effectively to get the facilities maintained.
He warned that the Assembly will soon be embarking on series of operations to eject illegal occupants from the bungalows to make way for personnel posted to the Municipality to work.
The MCE promised to resource the technocrats in the Assembly facilitate the distribution and collection of bills to aids the Assembly’s revenue mobilization agenda.
The Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Stephen Kyei hinted of proposals for rent increment in the 2023 Fee Fixing Resolution to allow for more renovation works on the facilities to give them a facelift.
Bills were distributed to the occupants of the Government buildings including staff of the various Government Departments and Agencies.
