Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, has called on traditional leaders to give peace a chance by allowing for the resolution of all chieftaincy related land litigations in the area to pave way for development.
He said that land related disputes should not be a barrier to driving in investment to affect the lives of the many residents in the Effutu Municipality. Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that resolving land disputes will go to support and facilitate the Assembly’s vision of improving the living standards of the people.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim made the call at a meeting with the chiefs of Gyingyinadze, a community in the Municipality and an investor, Alhaji Ahmed Yussif at his office on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
The meeting was to resolve an impasse between the chiefs and the investor over a land in the area being used for the construction of a factory in the Municipality.
The MCE said that land was crucial to development and urged the chiefs to allow for a peaceful resolution of the dispute to enable the teaming unemployed youth in the area get gainful employment to better their lives as well as improve the local economy with the direct and indirect jobs that would emerge with the coming into force of the factory in the area.
The Chiefs led by the Odikro of Gyingyinadze, Nana Abban expressed gratitude to the Municpal Chief Executive for his intervention at resolving the issue to pave way for a peaceful and smooth execution of the project.
They claimed that they were not consulted in the acquisition process as well as the execution of the proposed factory and therefore found it very disrespectful as the custodians of the land.
In their quest to receiving the needed recognition the chiefs noted that they were not against the development in the area, sharing the earlier submission of the MCE that the construction of the factory would reduce the unemployment deficit among the teaming youth.
Employing Diplomacy and tactfulness in resolving the impasse amicably, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, expressed joy at the successful resolution of the matter and called for the cooperation of the both the chiefs and the investor for the smooth execution of the project in the Municipality.
