The Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, has said that music contributes greatly to the character forming qualities by shaping human character in distinct ways. He noted that music is a vehicle of expression that weaves into the human thoughts and actions.
Giving credence to thoughts of Greek Philosophers, Plato and Aristotle, Hon. Zubairu Kassim affirmed the role music plays in the promotion of moral and spiritual harmony and order in the soul.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honor at the Opening of the 64th National Annual Delegates Conference and Thanksgiving Service of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Choir Union, held on Friday August 26, 2022 at Winneba, Hon. Zubairu Kassim charged Christians to live lives reflective of that of Jesus Christ whom they look up to for salvation.
He noted that the current generation is bedeviled with an array of moral challenges which requires the emulation of the life lived by Christ to get the generation back on its moral grounds.
The MCE for Effutu praised the Presbyterian Church for partnering with successive governments to contribute enormously to the socio-economic development of the country in sectors such as education and health in addition to winning souls for God’s kingdom.
He hoped that the conference shall rekindle the love of members, especially the youth to emulate the exemplary lives of leaders in the Church.
The Director of CLaN of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rev. Mrs. Esther Ohene Kwafo, charged choristers to combine singing to glorify God with drawing souls to God through music.
She noted that there is the need for choristers to have an intimate relationship with God with a great assignment in evangelism. Rev. Mrs. Ohene Kwafo, appealed to choristers to reflect on their mandate to draw souls for Christ.
Recounting the role music has played in the advancement of the church, Rev. Mrs. Ohene Kwafo, admitted that the church cannot operate in its quest to continuously win souls for Christ without Music.
The Union President, Mr. Owusu- Ansah Debrah, Esq, gave the situational report of the Union and touched on the welfare of its members across the country. He advised participants to reflect on how to contribute meaningfully to the two- day conference to cause changes in the constitution of the union for effective functioning in their music ministry.
