Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly on Tuesday August 23, 2022 led a team of Regional Highway Engineers and the Construction firm General Constructions to roads captured for construction in a 4.5kilometer road contract awarded by the Government of Ghana for road works in the Efuutu Muncipality.
The road project awarded to General Constructions is estimated at Ghc 13,117,903.31 and will see to the tarring of road networks including Vertinary- Olympic End (1.8kilometers), Vertinary – Gyatakrom road (450meters), NVTI Enclave road (750 meters), New Winneba (1.1kilometers) and New Ateitu road (400meters).
Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed to the contractor to consider local content in his engagement of personnel with training and skills in specialized areas including carpentry, Steal Bending and masonry. He pledged the Assembly’s support in ensuring the execution of a quality project which will benefit the people of the area
He expressed the excitement of the Effutu people as they continue to benefit from the national cake. The MCE stated that through the hard work of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenko Markin who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, the Municipality has in less than two weeks welcomed three different contractors who have been awarded different kilometers of road contacts in Efutu, a feat he described as unprecedented in the history of the area.
At an earlier Pre- Commencement Meeting to review the approved drawings and documents, the Central Regional Director of Ghana Highways Authority, Mr. Mark Okyere, said that it was important to meet with the contractor to discuss the project features and requirements prior to the handing over of the site to the contractor General Constructions.
He pledged the commitment of the Ghana Highways Authority to intensify its monitoring to ensure the delivery of quality work to the people of Winneba and its environs, adding that his outfit will insist on the right specifications and requirements for any materials that will be needed for the work.
