The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on Tuesday August 23, 2022 inaugurated an eight (8) Member Sports Unit Committee in adherence to the Sports Act 2016 (Act 934- section 23, 24, 25,26) to assist in the formulation and implantation of Sports policies, programmes and activities within the Effutu Municipality.
The committee also has a mandate of offering technical advice to the Effutu Municipal Assembly the promotion of efficient management and administration of private sector clubs and associations in the Municipality as well as coordinate the preparation of the annual sports budget of the Municipal Assembly.
Inaugurating the Committee, Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that as one of his priority areas he will continue to invest in sports development with the provision and improvement of sports infrastructure in the Municipality.
He charged the Committee to come up fascinating yearly programmes that will assist in the organization of a Municipal Sports Festival in the Municipal to unearth talents from the area to represent the interest of Ghana as a w hole.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim tasked the Committee to facilitate the periodic preparation of reports on the implementation of sports policies as well as matters relating to sports to his office for the necessary action to be expedited on them to improve sports development in the Municipality.
The Committee is chaired by the Head of the HYPERS Department of the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Munkaila Saibu, with Miss Gladys Manyev( Assistant Director-EMA), Messrs. Kwesi Botwe Aboagye Jnr (Central Regional Sports Development Officer-NSA),Philip Baah (Effutu Municipal GES Physical Education Coordinator), Mr. Albert Kofi Bonney ( Former Central Regional P.E Coordinator),
Seth Ayensu (Former Central and Greater Accra Regional P.E Coordinator), Alhasan Yahaya (Trainer, Apata Kofi Football Club) and Samuel Danso ( CEO, Sabadan Ventures) as members.
