President Nana Addo Akufo Addo has applauded the contribution of the Methodist Church for collaborating with Government to extend development to the people of Ghana. He noted that the collaboration of the state and the Church in the provision of quality education, healthcare, social welfare and the financial development has been an essential feature of Ghanaian governance, which has inured very much to the benefit of the Ghanaian people.
He expressed the appreciation of the Ghanaian people to the religious community for the proactive role it played in assisting the people of the country to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic at its height.
Delivering his address at the opening of the 12th Biennial and 50th Golden Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Winneba, President Akufo Addo noted that the activities of Methodist Church have over the years impacted positively not only on the lives of its congregants but also on the progress of Mother Ghana, adding that the church has been a good example of what it means to love one another and give cheerfully to those in need.
According to him, the goal of his Government since assuming the reins of power, has been to help improve the living standards of the Ghanaian people. He continued that the various policy initiatives, including the Free Senior High School policy, the programme for Planting for Food and Jobs and the One-District-One-Factory initiative have been implemented with the well-being of the Ghanaian at heart.
Commenting on the recent challenges facing the Ghanaian economy, President Akufo-Addo stated that his government has not thrown its hands up in despair at the development but is determined to bring relief to the Ghanaian people with measures being put in place to return the economy back to the high rates of growth that characterized the management of the economy in the three years preceding the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020. He noted, however, that, before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ghana had one of the fastest growing economies not just in Africa, but across the world. He assured that Government will continue with the programmes for the expansion and modernization of the educational system to create a 21st-century workforce; the systematic reform of the country’s healthcare system to ensure a resilient, robust healthcare delivery system; and the realization of the agenda of industrial transformation that holds the key to the future prosperity of the country.
The President reiterated his commitment to the empowerment of the security services to consolidate the peace, security and stability of the state and nation adding that the establishment of a free and just society, where entrepreneurship and individual initiative are the sources of wealth creation with a strong social safety net for the marginalized, disadvantaged and the improvement of the governance architecture to deepen accountability and respect for the rule of law in our body politic continues to be top of the agenda of the Government.
Bringing his address to a close President expressed his continuous faith in God to help turn the fortunes of the nation around, accompanied by appropriate policy determination and hard work on the part of the Government. He urged all Christians and Ghanaians to have belief that the fortunes of Ghana under his Presidency will be restored.

Justina Marigold Assan, the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin, Member of Parliament for Esikado Ketan and former Minister for Railway Development, Hon. Joe Ghartey, Paramount Chief for Effutu, Nenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Chief of Assin Kushea, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, MMDCEs from the Central Region as well as Methodist Clergymen from across the country.
