As part of the usual monitoring of on-going projects in the Effutu Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, undertook an inspection tour of ongoing projects sites in the municipality on Wednesday June 22, 2022, to three (3) communities within the Municipality.
The tour was to enable the Municipal Chief Executive ascertain the state of development projects being supervised by the assembly.
At Osubonpanyin, the MCE inspected a satellite market with a lorry station and water closet washrooms, being constructed by the Assembly to create market accessibility for the people in that community.
He was joined by the chiefs and elders of Osubonpanyin as he toured the project site with the chiefs expressing optimism that the contractor would meet the six (6) months duration for the construction to be completed.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim later led the team made up of the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah, Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Enoch Obeng, Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Abubakar Saddick Adam, Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Charles Baah Aboagye, Municipal Internal Auditor, Madam Tawa Raji and other staff of the Assembly’s Works Department to the Sankor African Christian Mission (ACM) Basic School to inspect maintenance works on a 1 No. 4Unit Classroom Block of the school which was damaged by a rainstorm and created accommodation challenges for the school in the process.
The MCE’s inspection tour also took him to the Don Bosco Basic School where he inspected the construction of a 2Unit KG Block with Ancillary facilities for the Don Bosco Special School.
Work was steadily ongoing at all the sites visited with the contractors showing signs of completing the projects on schedule.
Interacting with one of the contractors by name Sikasem Construction Ltd, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, stressed the importance of the projects to the Municipal Assembly, charging the contractors to deliver quality jobs on schedule to serve the interests of the people of the Effutu Municipality.
He noted that routine inspection was crucial at every stage of the construction to guarantee that work being done goes as planned and according to standard requirements and regulations.
At the African Christian Mission (ACM) Basic School, Hon. Zubairu Kassim interacted with the school children where he advised them to invest the time and energies in studying what they are being taught in school to enable them become responsible citizens in future. This he said will also give meaning to the massive investment being made by the Municipal Assembly and the Government in the education sector.
He bemoaned the level of truancy creeping in among some school children in the Municipality, a situation he claimed is affecting the standards of education and results churned out at the end of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area.The honorable MCE for Effutu pledged a special award for any student who excels in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination from the school.
