The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday March 23rd, 2022 held a special Assembly meeting to elect a Presiding Member to steer the affairs of the Assembly for the next two years.
Hon. Elizabeth Sena who contested unopposed was confirmed to serve as Presiding Member after she secured 25 out of the 26 votes cast with (1) rejected ballot in an election conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission in the Effutu Municipality
In all twenty six (26) Assembly Members including the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim cast their votes to elect the Presiding Member for the Assembly.
After her declaration by the Municipal Electoral Officer, Madam Ama Akotia as Presiding Member Elect, Hon. Elizabeth Sena was later sworn in to take office as the Presiding Member after the Circuit Court Judge administered the Oath of office as well as the Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Allegiance on her. In her acceptance speech, Hon. Elizabeth Sena expressed her gratitude to the Assembly Members for reposing so much confidence in her by voting massively to confirm her as Presiding Member for the Assembly. She pledged to work in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament as well as Heads of Department to actualize the Effutu dream and push forward Government’s development agenda in the area for the general good of the people of Effutu.The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on his part thanked the Assembly Members for their mandatory role played in fulfillment of the Local Governance Act, Act 936. He charged the newly elected Presiding Member to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in her by the representatives of the people of Effutu in the Assembly.
