A nation’s development is tied hand-in-hand with people of healthy body and mind, says the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, as he led a health walk of school children in Winneba.
The Walk was organized by the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) to imbibe in the school children of Winneba the need to exercise as a prerequisite to Nation-building as part of activities marking Ghana’s 65th Independence Anniversary Celebration.
“We need strong men and women to build Effutu and for that matter such health walks should be organized from time to time for a healthy population to build the Municipality,” He said.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim observed that the exercise was also to create an awareness about the 65th Independence Anniversary celebration which was being hosted in the regional capital of Cape Coast. He expressed gratitude to all the participating schools drawn from Basic Schools in Winneba, adding that the high turnout was an indication of the people’s readiness to welcome the whole country into the Central Region for the 65th Independence Anniversary Celebration.
The walk saw a large crowd of school children and residents with the Mayor and his team walk through some principal streets of Winneba for about two hours.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim latter in the day led his team to the Winneba Central Mosque to seek for prayers for the successful organization of the event in the region especially as Winneba was billed to present groups including a choral group, Masqueraders and the Asafo cultural troop to perform at the celebration.
He appealed to all Muslims in Ghana to pray for the peace of Ghana as the country prepared to celebrate its 65th Independence Anniversary.
Urging
the residents to support government’s efforts at generating revenue locally for
her development, the Honorable MCE asked Muslims to use the occasion of Ghana’s
Independence Anniversary to reflect on the spirit of sacrifice and loyalty that
inspired Prophet Ibrahim to accept Allah’s command to sacrifice his son
Ishmael.
He said that the nation requires the sacrifice of its citizens to support the
payment of the E- Levy and other home grown policies being trumpeted by the
Akufo Addo administration to help the building of a Ghana Beyond Aid.
