The Wesley Methodist Church at Winneba on Sunday February 27, 2022 witnessed a scene of perceptible joy with gratefulness as the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim led a team of leaders and residents of Effutu to offer prayers and thanksgiving to the Almighty God, as the country prepares to celebrate the 65th Independence Anniversary in the Central Region.
The Municipal Assembly placed premium on the prayers and thanksgiving service to ask God for an incident free organization in Cape Coast come Sunday 6th March, 2022 as well as to offer gratitude to the Almighty God for the selection of the Effutu Municipality to play several roles towards a successful organization of the National Event in the region.
The Presiding Minister, Rt. Rev. Dr. Ghartey Tagoe shared words of encouragement and affirmation for the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly as a whole for working hard to making the Effutu Municipal Assembly stay relevant and a major force to recon with in such organizations in the country.
He prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom to lead in the preparation and organization of the national event in the region.
When he mounted the podium the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim expressed the gratitude of the people of Effutu to the President of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for extending a lot of development projects into the Municipality and the region as a whole since he assumed the reins of government.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim lauded President Akufo Addo and the Government for choosing Central Region to host the National event of the 65th Independence celebration.
He was particularly grateful to the Independence Planning Committee and the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Marigold Assan for selecting the Effutu Municipality to showcase the culture of the area by presenting the various Asafo groups, Masquerader groups and a choral group from the Winneba Senior High School, the Young Chorus to perform at the National Parade in Cape Coast.
This he said will place the Municipality on the national as well as international ladder to attract investment opportunities to the area in future.
He prayed for peace and prosperity and charged the entire citizenry to have the nation at heart and support leadership for a better tomorrow.
Present at the event were the Presiding Member for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Captain Rtd Ayi Acquah, the Chairman of the Central Regional Lands Commission, Mr. K. K Danso, the Effutu Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Enoch Obeng, Assembly Members as well as a Council of Elders Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Effutu Constituency, Mr. Kofi Taylor.
Several residents of the Effutu Municipality also joined in the Prayers and Thanksgiving Service held in the Municipality.
