Women have been advised to enhance their leadership abilities with hand- on training programs designed to give them career opportunities as well as advancing their careers in today’s workforce as such programs show women how to strategically use their strength and abilities to improve their living conditions.
Undergoing such training programs will provide livelihood skills for women in order to empower them to support themselves and their families.
The call was made by the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim at the passing out ceremony of the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA)/ Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works project Skills Training which saw the training of about 40 women in the production of shampoo, bathing gel, liquid soap, hand sanitizers, bar soap, Mke-up and other detergents at Winneba.
Pledging the support of the Municipal Assembly towards empowering the women to use the knowledge acquired to the benefit of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon, Zubairu thanked the office of the Second Lady of the republic, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia for partnering with the Ghana Enterprise Agency to offer hope to the women in the Municipality through skills training.
He charged them to use the knowledge and skills acquired to start up their own businesses to improve their lives and that of the families and also to the benefit of the society they live in.
On her part the Secretary to the Second Lady, Madam Zelia Amsat Osman, charged the women to be smart and innovative in using social media to promote the businesses they will be pursuing after the skills straining.
She admonished the participants to explore modern day avenues towards creating and selling attractive brands to the people of Ghana and beyond.
Madam Zelia A. Osman noted that the Office of the Second lady selected Winneba as one of the Communities to benefit from the benevolence of Her Excellency Samira Bawumia after incessant appeals from the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Municipality and the Municipal Chief Executive for women in the area to acquire the knowledge and skill needed to be self-reliant and relevant in then society. The ceremony also saw the issuance of certificates and Start up Kits provided by the Second Lady, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia to the 40 participants who underwent the training.
