EFFUTU MP DONATES INCUBATOR TO WINNEBA MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL

Ghana’s Deputy Majority of the 8th Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo- Markin, on Monday, November 13, 2023 continued to exhibit clear leadership towards transforming and sustaining the fortunes of the Effutu Municipality with a donation of an incubator to the Neo- Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Winneba Municipal Hospital.

The items also included a Breath care Positive Airway Pressure Units (PAP) and two (2) 17 Plates Batteries for the Hospital’s Ambulance donated by the astute law- maker to the Effutu Municipal Hospital.

The donation was in sharp response to a request made through the Municipal Chief Executive during a working visit to the hospital in October, 2023.

Handing over the incubator to officials of the Winneba Municipal Hospital on behalf of the Effutu Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, pointed out that the gesture was to ensure that the health facility was best placed to deal with the challenges of infant mortality.

According to him, the donation was to support the Winneba Municipal Hospital improve the health of newly born babies and reduce premature deaths within Winneba and its environs

 He stated that the Effutu Member of Parliament held the view that the donated incubator and Healthcare Positive Airway Pressure would relieve the anxiety of hard-working officials of NICU just because of the broken-down incubator belonging to the Winneba Municipal Hospital.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim said that it was the desire of the MP to help reduce infant mortality in the Effutu Municipality to compliment Ghana’s efforts at solidifying her position on the Millenium Development Goal four which has always looked at reducing the under- five mortality.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Hospital, the Clinical Coordinator at the facility, Dr. Douglas Amponsah, said that the lack of incubator at the facility was a challenge to quality health care delivery at the Hospital.

He said that the donation from the MP was timely and delivered at such an impeccable moment where the facility had no incubator at the Neo- Natal Intensive Care Unit to serve the purpose of reducing infant related deaths in the Municipality, adding that the equipment would go a long way to reduce infant mortality in the area to improve the quality of health care delivery within the Effutu Municipality and its adjoining communities.

Dr. Amponsah lauded the Effutu Law- Maker for his commitment and support for the health sector within the Effutu enclave and called for more of such support to enhance health care delivery in the area.
