The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Monday, November 6, 2023 inaugurated a Municipal Road Safety Taskforce to ensure road safety measures, especially illegal parking and proper vehicular documentations before, during and after the festive season for the safety of the public.
Members of the Taskforce included representatives from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, National Insurance Commission, the National Road Safety Commission, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and others.
Inaugurating the committee, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim charged the taskforce to work together as a team in reducing accidents as well as ensuring that the roads are safe for all users.
He said that the Road Safety Taskforce commanded the key to implementing strategies that will raise awareness, enforce traffic regulations and educate the community about responsible road use to reduce carnage on the road.
Hon. Zubairu Kasim admonished the team to approach the work of the taskforce with determination and vigor with the aim of creating a community where families could travel with peace of mind where the roads are pathways to progress.
Speaking at the short ceremony, the Effutu Municipal Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Rowland Dorkenoo, intimated that the taskforce as part of its mandate would work to ensure the enforcement of road safety regulations.
He said that his outfit will collaborate with the Taskforce to tighten compliance mechanisms to promote an incident free season to curb road menace prior to the celebration of the 2023 yuletide.
