The Chiefs and Elders from New Winneba, a community in the Effutu Municipality on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 called on the Municipal Chief Executive of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim at his office in Winneba.
The visit was a follow-up to an earlier stakeholders meeting held between the Assembly’s leadership and the chiefs of the area on the construction of a Senior High School in the Area.
According to the chiefs, they had been side-stepped by the contractors without any recognition with the contractors going to site to commence work without proper community entry processes. They said that there was the need to finalize documentation processes on the allocated land for the project to prevent encroachment by miscreants.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, assured the chiefs of the readiness of the Assembly to continue to engage the members of the community to fine tune all the bottlenecks surrounding the land for the project to ensure a successful execution of the project to benefit the current and generations yet unborn.
He promised to engage the contractors for a proper community entry engagement with the people of the community to enhance cooperation and coordination for a smooth take-off of the project.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim expressed his displeasure over the illegal sale of lands meant for public projects such as schools by some leaders of the communities and promised to deal ruthlessly with the canker to serve the public good.
The Municipal Chief Executive later in the company of the Presiding Member, Hon. Elizabeth Senah who doubles as the Assembly Woman for the area, the Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Charles Baah Aboagye, as well as the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah and the Municipal Physical Planning Officer, Mr. Isaac Adoah led the chiefs and elders to the New Winneba M/A Basic School premises where the school land was under serious attack from encroachers and caused a demolition of some unauthorized structures in the area.
