EFFUTU MCE’S STERLIN PERFORMANCE ATTRACTS HIGH RATINGS FROM RESIDENTS

An employee’s understanding of his abilities and possible growth is a criteria factor in an organizational endeavour to systematically evaluate his performance in the Performance appraisal system of an organization.

It was in this light that the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on Friday, July 14, 2023 subjected himself for a performance assessment in an exclusive interview as part of his periodic quarterly engagement with the people of Effutu on Radio Windy’s Morning Express hosted by Mr. Francis Bolley.

He recounted the pledge he made during his confirmation as Municipal Chief Executive to see to the successful completion of the Effutu Municipal Assembly Office Complex which commenced during the reign of former President, John Agyekum Kuffour amidst financial constraints which stalled the project for close to 16years.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim enumerated the contribution of the Effutu Member of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo- Markin in the pursuit and Lobbying efforts targeted at persuading the Office of the Common Fund Administrator to provide the financial and technical assistance for the completion of the construction project which according to him was capital intensive beyond the capabilities of the Assembly.

He said that his persistence and perseverance paid off when he continued with several visits to the Common Fund Administrator in the company of the Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area, Nenyi Ghartey VII when the Office of the Common Fund Administrator bought into his request and awarded the project on contract.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim who felt fulfilled praised the contribution of all the stakeholders including the Member of Parliament who doubles as the Deputy Majority leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament and the Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area for believing in the Effutu project to revolutionize the development agenda of the area.

The Effutu MCE listed a number of development projects in the various sectors including the construction of roads, schools and a paper factory at new Winneba which is expected to offer employment to the teaming youth to help reduce the unemployment deficit in the area to affect the local economy positively.

On the seeming tension between the Effutu people and the counterparts from the three Gomoa Districts, namely, Gomoa East, Gomoa West and Gomoa Central regarding land issues which pose a security threat to the people, Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that the Members of Parliament as well as the Municipal and District Chief Executives of the four Assemblies have met with the Paramount Chiefs of the respective Traditional Areas in a bid to broker peace and promote cooperation amongst them.     

He said that a committee comprising of members from all the affected Districts has been constituted to iron out all land related matters likely to threaten the peace and security of the areas.

He appealed to the residents of Effutu to remain calm and have faith in the leadership of the areas to resolve the impasse to deepen the peaceful relationship that has existed among the four neigbouring Districts since independence.
