The Effutu Municipal Assembly on May 10, 2023, held a training programme as part of efforts to deepen decentralization as well as ensuring the effective operationalization of its sub- structures pursuant to the Local Government (Urban, Zonal and Town Councils and Unit Committees) (Establishment) Instrument, LI 1967 of 2010.
The meeting was to assist the zonal councils on how to collect revenue and the types of revenue to be generated in the municipality.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadwo, whiles opening the training, noted that the training programme was to enable the staff broaden their horizon on revenue generation as well as equip them with the requisite skills needed to be effective in their current roles of leading the Assembly’s revenue generation efforts.
He charged the participants to take the training serious to aid the Assembly realize its revenue targets to push the development of Effutu forward.
Taking the participants through the types of revenue, the Municipal Budget Officer, Mr. Stephen Kyei, posited that customer service and customer relations can affect revenue collection positively or negatively adding that the target of zonal councils is to ensure customer satisfaction.
He charged the zonal Councils to be available and reliable as well as provide customers with quality service.
He took them through areas including the types of revenue, structure, secession and roles of the zonal council and how revenue data can help in generating revenue for the assembly.
The Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Abubakar Saddique Adam on his part took the team through general administration as well as planning and execution of Zonal Council activities.
