The Winneba Branch of the Ghana Government Pensioners Association has lauded the contribution of the Municipal Chief for the Effutu Municipal Assembly towards the welfare of Pensioners in the Municipality.
According the group the Effutu MCE has always responded to their needs with prompt responses making them feel worthy retirees of the country.
They made this known when Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim visited them at their meeting venue at Winneba on Friday, April 14, 2023.
The Chairperson for the group, Madam Lucy Anaman, whiles addressing the meeting noted that the Association was made up of retired government workers who were in active service before 1972.
She thanked the MCE for providing them with the financial support for the roofing of their office space. She said that the Association before the support of the MCE rented canopies to hold meetings, a situation that made it uncomfortable for members to attend meetings.
Madam Lucy Anaman seized the opportunity to appeal for more support to complete the construction of the office complex.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on his part assured the pensioners that he will in his personal capacity continue to commit resources to make life better for them.
He pledged to use his personal resources to complete the construction of the office space structure including fixing of doors, provision of a wash room, plastering of the structure with painting and as well as furnishing it to take care of the needs of pensioners in the Municipality.
According to him, pensioners must be honoured for the sacrifices they made in building a solid foundation for the development of Ghana, adding that taking care of the welfare of the pensioners was necessary to encourage the present generation to sacrifice for nation building.
Members of the Association whiles contributing to the discussion expressed confidence in the leadership style of the Effutu MCE and lauded him for pursuing the development of the Municipality to benefit the current and future generation.
