WORK ON NTAKOFA CULVERT CONSTRUCTION BEGINS IN WINNEBA

Work on the construction of 1 No. 12m (2.5mx 2.5m) Box Culvert at Ntakofa in Winneba commenced on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 with the Contractor his equipment to site.

The project, awarded by the Effutu Municipal Assembly, is expected to be completed within six (6) months.

The culvert construction works being executed by Sika Sem Company Limited is expected to accommodate the volume of flow of water across the road when completed.

The Contractor, as part of his terms of engagement is expected to work on the diversion and dredging of the Ntakofem stream to prevent flooding and protect the lives and property of the people who live around the area.

The overflow of the stream often floods whenever it rained heavily which sometimes makes it impossible for cars to pass and cause havoc to nearby residents and building.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA), Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, led by the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah, visited the site to inspect the project.

He noted that the Assembly has supervisory jurisdiction over the project and that makes duty-bound to frequently visit projects sites to ensure the right work is done.

“Contracts have been awarded and this is one of them. As an Assembly, it is our responsibility to supervise the contractors and make sure they do the work diligently. I’m here this morning to see to it that the contractor does the right thing”, he stated.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed to motorists who ply the route as well as residents to exercise patience and cooperate with the Assembly and the contractor as it was in their interest the project was being executed.

The Municipal Chief Executive tasked the contractor to execute the mandate with the highest level of professionals for a quality job to be delivered to serve the purpose of its construction
