The Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on Tuesday August16, 2022 joined officials of the Central Regional Highways Authority to hold Pre- Commencement Meeting within a spate of one week for the Rehabilitation and Partial Reconstruction of another 6.2kilometers of selected roads in the Municipality.
The meeting provided an opportunity for communicating the requirements and expectations of the construction project to the contractor, ERDMAC Company Limited hired by the Government of Ghana to execute the project.
At this meeting, the approved drawings and documents were thoroughly reviewed with major items discussed by the participants. The contract is estimated at GH₵15,886,816.13.
Speaking at the meeting, the Central Regional Director of Ghana Highways Authority, Mr. Mark Okyere, noted that it was necessary to hold the meeting to discuss the project features and requirements prior to the start of construction on September 1, 2022 to avoid and reduce possible conflicts and delays in completion of the work expected to be ready by August 31, 2023.
Mr. Okyere who was keen on quality work led the Ghana Highway Authority team to review and discuss the implementation procedures along with the specifications and requirements for any materials that will be needed for the work.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, assured the contractor of the assistance of his outfit for quality work to be delivered on schedule for the people of Effutu.
Exalting the lobbying prowess of the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that this is the second time in less than a week that such a meeting has been held to pave way for the commencement of work on selected roads in the Municipality. He said that an earlier 8.1kilometer road construction project was handed over on Friday August 12, 2022 to the Core Constructions Limited to be completed within a 24month period.
He appealed to the contractor, ERDMAC Company Limited to consider recruiting the locals from Winneba who are skilled in areas including carpentry and Steal Bending to form part of its workforce to help reduce unemployment in the area.
The General Manager of ERDMAC Company Limited, Mr. Moses Hammond, assured the MCE of his commitment to complete this project on schedule without compromising on the quality of specification.
The affected roads selected for reconstruction and upgrading include Town Hall, Olympic Arena Link Access, and Gyatakrom- Osubon Panyin roads.
The team later joined General Construction Limited, the firm awarded the contract to construct a 1kilometer New Winneba road linking the proposed Paper factory site under the One District One Factory initiative to inspect the road yet to commence.
