The Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GPHA) on Friday July 8, 2022 handed over documents covering and signaling the completion of two road projects constructed by the Company for the people of Winneba to the Effutu Municipal Assembly at a brief ceremony at the Municipal Assembly.
The H & E and Marine Drive roads from Prisons to Abowie were part of the package awarded on contract for the construction of a Landing Beach at Winneba in 2019 by GHAPOHA to serve the fishing community in the area and boost the local economy.
Presenting the documents to the Municipal Chief Executive of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, the representative of GPHA Madam Mavis Allotey, said that the company awarded the contract for the resurfacing of the two roads in the Winneba Township, Meridian Logistics Engineering Ltd has completed its work and handed over same to GPHA. She said that GPHA therefore saw it prudent to hand the projects over to the community to serve the purpose for the construction.
Madam Allotey entreated the Municipal Assembly to ensure periodic maintenance of the roads to continue to serve the people and push the development of Effutu.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, who received the documents on behalf of the Effutu Municipal Assembly thanked GPHA and Meridian Logistics Construction Limited for working on schedule to complete the roads to serve the Effutu people.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim said the roads will go a long way to boost trade and fishing thereby improving the local economy of Effutu.
The Municipality he said has a greater potential of reducing poverty through improved trade and fishing. The MCE assured of periodic maintenance to continue to keep the roads in good shape and charged the Municipal Engineer, MR. Emmanuel Yeboah to ensure the maintenance at all times.
