UNCDF TEAM VISITS NSUEKYIR STORAGE SITE

The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 received a team from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) to monitor the implementation of the climate resilient investment being implemented with the construction of a Warehouse in the Effutu Municipality.
The project is aimed at consolidating country-based and internationally recognized mechanisms to channel climate finance for local action through a performance -based climate resilience grant system.
The team during the assessment and meeting also evaluated the Assembly’s innovative planned programmes and activities which included the construction of a storage facility at Nsuekyir to reduce waste and preserve the produce of the farmers, training and sensitization programmes for farmers on circular economy and climate smart agricultural principles as well as providing an alternative source of income with training seminars on soap making for the people in the communities.
The site monitoring conducted by the team in the company of the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive and other scheduled officers from the Assembly at Nsuekyir, the community selected for the construction of the storage facility of the project revealed a slow pace in the progress of work.
Madam Christiana Afi Quashie, a Principal Planning Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development appealed for more supervision geared towards realizing a successful completion of the project on schedule for the future benefits that may come with it to be achieved.
She said the timely completion of the construction of the storage facility for farmers in the area would go a long way to boost the Municipality’s chances of benefitting from the second phase of the project.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on his part admonished scheduled officers to double up their efforts to enhance the successful execution of the project on schedule for the Municipality to benefit from future projects by the organizations.
He noted that the project when completed will increase the yield and income of farmers in the area as well as boost the local economy.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim assured the team of the Assembly’s readiness to provide the necessary supervision for the project to be completed on schedule to benefit farmers within the Municipality.
