A delegation of members of the Parliamentary Select Committees on Government Assurance and Education led by the Member of Parliament for the Asokwa Constuency, Hon. Patricia Apiagyei, visited the Effutu Municipal Education Directorate on Thursday, June 1, 2023, to among other things ascertain whether pupils in the Municipality had received textbooks supplied by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The delegation was received by the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim in the company of the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah and other senior members of the Effutu Municipal Directorate of Education.
The MCE and the Municipal Director of Education led the delegation to the Ateitu/Osubonpanyin M/A Basic School and later to the Municipal Education Office.
The members of Parliament seized the opportunity to check on pupils’ enrollment and interacted with the pupils to know at first hand the effectiveness of the textbooks supplied to them in the current academic year.
The Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah confirmed the receipt of textbooks in some subject areas and subsequent distribution by her office to all public basic schools in the Municipality.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on his part highlighted gains made in the education sector with a massive collaboration between the Effutu Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Education Directorate to achieve the goals of education in the area.
He noted that the Assembly will continue to support education in the Municipality by providing the necessary logistics and facilities conducive for effective teaching and learning in the Municipality.
The leader of the delegation, Hon. Patricia Apiagyei, advised teachers to make judicious use of the textbooks supplied to impact educational outcomes in the Municipality and the country as a whole.
