The project which was started in August 2022 and was expected to be completed within six (6) months was completed on schedule, two months earlier than the set completion date. The completed project is expected to accommodate the volume of flow of water across the road which has been a major source of worry to residents in the area during the rainy season.
The construction of the culvert bridge included works on the diversion and dredging of the Ntakofem stream to prevent flooding as well as protect the lives and property of the people who live around the area.
Taking over the completed project, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, commended the contractor for executing the project on schedule to serve the purpose of reducing the burden of the people when the stream overflows. Hon. Zubairu Kassim, noted that the focus of the Nana Addo led administration since assuming the reigns of Government in 2017 to ensure that all sectors of the economy received the required development. He said that Assembly under his able leadership will not renege on its promises of extending development to the entire Municipality.
He appealed to the residents to contribute their quota to the national development by honoring their tax obligations to the Assembly for more development projects to be pursued to benefit all.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim announced that the next phase of construction works on the stretch will be the tarring of the road which will be executed by the Ghana Highways Authority through the Department of Urban Roads.
Residents and road users who will be the direct beneficiaries of the completed culvert bridge showered praises on the Municipal Chief Executive and the Effutu Municipal for coming to aid by constructing the bridge on the stream to connect one part of the community to the other especially during the rainy season.
They said the completed project has brought a sigh of relief not only to the community but also parents and teachers as well as pupils of the Pearl Academy School who use the road every day to school and pledged to put the facility to good use to prolong its life span to benefit generations yet unborn.
